Hello and welcome back to Diversishelf!

It’s finally Spring (in the northern hemisphere!), and I hope that is reflected where you all are. Your editor Victor, in Scotland, is still struggling to believe that, but that is pretty par for the course in this country.

Tomorrow is Trans Day of Visibility, or TDoV! It marks the end of the Trans Rights Readathon, and it is a great opportunity for Trans people and allies everywhere to rally. Us at Diversishelf encourage you to show up to your local pride events and protests, donate to Trans charities and mutual aid funds, seek out new Trans voices to listen to, make Trans art whatever it may be - anything that is accessible to you!

We especially encourage you to reach out to the Trans people in your life, as Trans Day of Visibility can be a bittersweet occasion. In the last five years, the media landscape in the UK alone has seen a 400% increase in articles about Trans issues, a lot of which is negative; in the US, Trans people are considered to be in early stages of genocide; and in India, Trans people have been stripped of the right to self-identify. Visibility has become something that many of us have stopped celebrating and have started fearing, for very good reasons. Visibility has become a privilege, and those of us who possess it need to use it to listen to those most at risk in our community, amplify those demands, and fight those battles.

We have always been here, and we aren’t going anywhere 🏳️‍⚧️
